Think Twice About Going to The ER for A Medical Emergency
Unfortunately, many people have become reliant upon going to the emergency room for everything other than medical emergency. There are numerous individuals who do not have primary care physicians; and in the case they need medical care – they rush to emergency room rather than waiting for a doctor’s appointment. This has become a trend in the United States and for those individuals who really require emergency care – they are unable to receive it in a timely fashion. Instead of going to an emergency room and sitting for hours on end to be seen, there are steps you can take to make yourself a little more comfortable.
Figure out the Facilities that Are Open for 24 Hours in the Area
There may be other healthcare facilities open in the area other than a hospital that are open around the clock. You may surprised to find out that there are walk-in clinics that provide the same medical services that are less expensive and much less wait time than the ER if you have a medical emergency.
Always Have Pertinent Information
If you have a medical emergency, it is always good to have proper medical information on you, as well as, identification. Oftentimes people tend to forget and they will not be able to be seen without this information. Knowing your weight, if your pregnant or not, last menstrual cycle and how long you have been feeling the way you’re feeling – can speed up the entry process tremendously.
Save yourself some headache and stress by only attending places that accept your insurance if a medical emergency occurs. Also know what your insurance will cover. Sometimes a referral may be required so you do not have to pay exorbitant amounts of money.
Bottom line is that if you are NOT in need of urgent care, you should avoid going to the ER at all costs. Make an appointment and look into the different healthcare facilities in the area. Relax as much as you can and take the steps needed to make yourself as comfortable as possible.
